Financial Counseling

A Financial Specialist is available to assist patients in finding avenues for service reimbursement. We offer pre-treatment counseling for patients who are unable to pay their projected expenses and well as patients who have higher balances and are in need of relief.

Our Financial Specialist, can help you with all types of financial assistance. Contact the financial counselor in our Ashland facility at 606-836-0202 to discuss your own specific situations. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

There are many programs that are available in assisting to you to help cover the costs of medications and medical treatment. If you feel you qualify, please contact us so that the application process could be started immediately.

This assistance includes:

  • Understanding the patient’s financial ability.
  • Placing the patient in contact with government agencies to find funding such as Medicaid and Medicare.
  • Determining whether a patient is eligible for charity care or financial assistance.

Patients requiring financial consideration are identified as very quickly in the registration/admission process so that all documentation, research, and approval can be completed before services are provided.

Assistance Qualifications

Income qualifications do vary.

Guidelines are usually based off of current Federal Poverty Guidelines. Most assistance programs allow your income to be between 2% – 5% above poverty levels For more information please visit the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services website at http://aspe.hhs.gov.com. Co-Pay/Prescription Assistance varies with different diagnoses. Your Patient Financial Specialist will review this with you.

What you should bring to the first meeting with the Financial Specialist

Proof of income/federal tax return, along with the following information for all members of the household.

  • Household Monthly Income
  • Wage/Salary Statements
  • Retirement/Pension Statements
  • Social Security Information

Co-Pay Assistance Programs

Patient Services Incorporated (1-800-336-7741) is committed to assisting persons with chronic medical illnesses in accessing health insurance and pharmacy co-payment assistance. They are dedicated to providing health insurance premium assistance, pharmacy co-pay assistance, and co-payment waiver assistance for persons with specific expensive chronic illnesses.

Patient Advocate Foundation (1-866-512-3861) assists patients diagnosed with lung cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. The patient must contact PAF directly for an interview to determine eligibility. Among other services, the Patient Advocate Foundation offers a dedicated Co-Pay Relief program.

The HealthWell Foundation® (1-800-675-8416) helps individuals afford prescription medications they are taking for specific illnesses. The Foundation provides financial assistance to eligible patients to cover certain out-of-pocket health care costs including:

  • Prescription drug coinsurance, co-payments, and deductibles
  • Health insurance premiums
  • Other selected out-of-pocket health care costs.

Patient Access Network Foundation (1-866-316-7263) is dedicated to supporting the needs of patients who cannot access the treatments they need due to out-of-pocket health care costs. Patients may be eligible for assistance if they suffer from
